We keep our privacy notice under regular review and we place any updates on the Red Island webpage. This privacy policy was last updated on 6th July 2009.
Collection of Information
During the course of business, Red Island collects personal information about:

- People who might be interested in receiving information about Red Island products and services
- Job applicants and our current and former employees

Use of
Information
We use information held about you in the following ways:
Customer of Red Island’s Information, Products and Services
- When we are contracted to provide a product or undertake a service, we make up a file containing the details of the customer contacts. This information normally contains key contact details provided during initial discussions and is maintained as part of our ongoing business relationship with your organisation.
- We will also use the personal information we collect to:
- Provide ongoing Information, Products and Services.
- Check on the levels of service we provide.
- Notify you about changes to our information, products or services, and, with your consent, special offers, promotions or market research surveys.
People request information about the Red Island Services
- We hold the details of the people who have requested information or services in order to:
- To provide you with the information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.
- Monitor the performance / provision of the information / products / services requested.
Visitors to our website
- When someone visits our website we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the Red Island’s website. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
- We use Google Analytics to help analyse use of our website. This information is then used to evaluate visitors’ use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity for Red Island.
- Red Island will not (and will not allow any third party) to use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any personally identifiable information of visitors to our site. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source as part of our use of the Google statistical analytics tool.
- If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be upfront about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.
Job applicants, current and former Red Island employees
- When individuals apply to work at Red Island, we will only use the information they supply to us to process their application and to monitor recruitment statistics. Where we want to disclose information to a third party, for example where we want to take up a we will not do so without informing them beforehand unless the disclosure is required by law.
- Personal information about unsuccessful candidates will be held for 12 months after the recruitment exercise has been completed, it will then be destroyed or deleted. We retain de-personalised statistical information about applicants to help inform our recruitment activities, but no individuals are identifiable from that data.
- Once a person has taken up employment with the Red Island, we will compile a file relating to their employment. The information contained in this will be kept secure and will only be used for purposes directly relevant to that person’s employment. Once their employment with Red Island has ended, we will retain the file in accordance with the requirements of our retention schedule and then delete it.
The personal information / data that we collect from you will remain the European Economic Area ("EEA").
Disclosure of Personal Information
Access to your personal information is restricted to our employees, agents, representatives and service providers, such as our data processing, printing and fulfilment operations.
We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries.
We will not otherwise disclose any personal information to third parties, without your consent except under the following circumstances:

Our Commitment to Data Security
We recognize that your privacy is important to you, and therefore we endeavour to keep your personal information confidential. We treat all the data held by us with the utmost care and security measures are in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
All information you
provide to us is stored on our secure servers, our web site is also
hosted on a server, both physically held in a secure data centre in the
UK to which only trusted individuals have access. The servers have the
latest software patches installed and are equipped with firewall and
anti-viral software. Our servers have been tested for security flaws as
part of our continuing commitment to security and reliability.
Also, our internal practices help protect your privacy by limiting employee access to and use of such information.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Your rights
In addition to our safeguards, your personal data is protected in the UK by the Data Protection Act 1998. This provides, amongst other things, that the data we hold about you must be processed lawfully and fairly. It should be accurate, relevant and not excessive. The information should be kept up to date, where necessary, and not retained by us for longer than is necessary. It should be kept securely to prevent unauthorised access by people other than us.
You have the right to see what information we hold about you and alert us to any inaccuracies, you can do this by requesting a copy of your data by emailing info@redisland.co.uk. Any request may be subject to an administration fee to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold on you.
Access to personal information
Red Island tries to be as open as it can be in terms of giving people access to their personal information. Individuals can find out if we hold any personal information by making a ‘subject access request’ under the Data Protection Act 1998. If we do hold information about you we will:
- Give you a description of it;
- Tell you why we are holding it;
- Tell you who it could be disclosed to; and
- Let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.
